Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears LT2000 LAWN TRACTOR, fuel stabilizer, lt2000

Question
John,

I've got 2 questions pertaining to my Sears LT2000 Lawn Tractor (2.5yrs old) [model CV490S 17.5HP, Kohler engine]:

(1) I've lost my owners manual and can't find it online, can you help me download a copy?

(2) After running the engine for approx 10 minutes, it sputters and stalls, as though it ran out of fuel.  It has plenty of fuel.  I live 40 miles south of Washington D.C., the winter was mild, but I did not consistently run it once every week or so (as I did last year) and I haven't added a fuel stabilizer.
 a. Is it possible that I need to run carb cleaner through it?
 b. Should I change the fuel filter?
 c. The air filter appears relatively clean
 d. I changed both the spark plug and oil last week.

Answer
Hello Jim:

Does this Mower Do this Each Time? Have you Checked for Spark at the Plug as Soon as this Happens? Check the Gas Tank Cap. It it Isn't Vent the Tank a Vacuum Builds Up and the Gas Stops Flowing in About 10 to 15 Minutes. Some Coils/Ignition Modules will Also Stop Firing after 10 to 15 Minutes. You Should Change the Gas Filter when you Change the Oil. I Use Carburetor Cleaner Additive in all My Gas. I haven't Located an Owners Manual for Download. I have Put it On My List of things to Locate and I Will Follow Up if I can Locate One. All I have Located are For Purchase Only. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
