Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman tractor needs new engine, briggs stratton, deere dealer

I have a Craftsman 42" cut tractor. Model # 917.270860 Serial #
062199C002382. The engine is blown beyond repair so I need a new one but I
was wondering if there is any other engines that would be compatible with
this tractor. The engine that is in it is Briggs & Stratton 20.5 HP.
The model # is 461707 Type 0145E1 Code 9906145A. Thank You

DON'T FIX IT. Put the 1,000.00 towards a "good " mower.
Nothing runs like a Deere.
Test drive a LA120 at a Deere dealer. You'll see what a 'good " tractor is and it will be less money than you were expecting. The Deere LA120 was ranked "best buy" in Consumer reports magazine"
