Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): manufacture date, psychic hot line, kawasaki engine

Question
how do i find out the manufacture date on a used rider??? thanks

Answer
In all reality the manufacture date means nothing in the "Power Equipment World".
Tractors and mowers don't really have model years like a car does. Most manufacture's build the same model several years, usually until the tooling wears out.
Anything built in the last 20yrs has readily accessible part inventories at the manufacturing level. Any dealer can easily order parts.
From my dealership experience I can tell you the age of a machine is zero factor when it comes to value. 1 year of mowing with poor airfilter maintenance is worse than 10 years of good service. Has the mower been used on 4 acres or 10,000 square feet. You get my gist? Who cares how old it is. does it have clean oil and sharp blades. That's the important question. Any mower with a Kawasaki engine will have 100%  longer life than something with a Briggs.
Kohler about 50% longer and a Tecumseh about 25% longer.
Hey Leroy kiss my ass.
You didn't tell me you were rehabbing junk to sell at the flea market. I can tell you the exact year on any model with a serial number. Oh wait, you didn't give me a brand or serial number. Apparently I should call the local "Psychic Hot Line" to answer your question. By the way don't give a rats ass if you gave me all 1s. It just shows YOUR ignorance.
