Motorcycle Repair: 1945 Military Harley, owner states, happy holidays

Question
Hello Mike-
I hope you still take questions.  I have found a 1945 military Harley.  It sounds like it's barn fresh, but is complete.  The owner states it needs gauges and other things but is complete.
I would really appreciate if you gave me your opinion on this.  He is asking $7500.  I realise you do not know many details but that's all I have.  I am waiting on a photo.  also he has a 53/54 Sportster K.  He is asking $4500. for that one.
My question is with that kind of vintage should I pass it up??

Thank you, Russ

Answer
It is going to depend on which model the miltary bike is. Harley had several models they sold as miltary. The price he is asking is pretty much inline though. In a fully restored condition, it could be worth around $19000.00.
On the K model, fully restored, it could be worth around $10000.00
Both prices he is asking is really going to depend on what kind of condition the bike are in and if they are complete and with titles. For the prices he is asking, if it were me I would purchace them
If you purchace them, and are interested, I can quote you a price on doing the restorations. You can check out my web site and see some of the bikes I have done and write me there.
Happy holidays
Mike
