Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ive got no spark., speedy reply, proper manuals

Question
QUESTION: I have a mid 90's? Lowe's brand mower. I am pretty sure that means it is an MTD brand but still unsure. I bought it for 20 bucks and planned on fixing it. I first tore apart the carb and rebuilt it since it was sitting for a while. Then I cleaned all the connections and magneto. Turn the key to fire it up and nothing happens. The motor turns over but does not fire up. I pulled the plug and checked for spark but there is nothing jumping the gap when I turn the key. I am out of ideas so any help would be much appreciated.
ANSWER: Hello Chris:

The Coil is Gapped .020in from the Flywheel. Disconnect the Coil Shut Off Wire from the Coil and Turn the Engine. If there is Fire at the Plug, then a Safety Switch is Most Likely the Cause. If No Fire at the Plug, then the Coil is Most Like the Cause. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manuals and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck

QUESTION: WoW! Talk about a speedy reply! The only model numbers that I am able to find are on the motor itself. B&S 12.5hp I/C Model: 289707 Type: 0154 01 Code: 9407254D     The sticker that had the mower's model number upon it is long gone so that is gonna be a problem finding. I will check the gap tomorrow after work as it is 9pm here now. Again Thanks for the speedy reply and I will let you know what happens.

QUESTION: Ok got it gapped correctly and checked the coil shut off wire. Of course there was fire at the plug. I then proceded to check all the safety switches and found that the clutch was not pressing its' switch. I straitened out the bar that is supposed to hit the switch and that sucker fires every try now. Thanks for all the help with my problem.
