You proably have a broken or stripped shaft in the tube. The problem sure isn't the spacer.
This trimmer was junk when it was new. Buy a good trimmer and you will pass it to your grandkids when you die.
You can't buy a good trimmer anywhere but a power equipment dealer. I recomend 2 brands, Red Max and Shindaiwa. A good trimmer will cast 200.00 minimum.
If you can't afford the premium product by the absolute cheapest thing you can find. They are built the same and will have about 50 hours run time worth of life.
There is a reason you don't see commercial cutters using YardMachine products.
