Question
QUESTION: I have a Craftsman 17" 23CC Gas Weedwacker.  When I apply the gas trigger, the choke lever goes from the off position to the full choke position causing the engine to die. Anything I can do? Thanks
ANSWER:   Hello Josh:

Send me the Model Numbers Off the Trimmer, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manuals and Better Assist you. This is a First, for Me, for this Type of Problem and I wish to See a Breakdown/IPL of this Carburetor. Thanks.

Answer
 Hello Josh:

Thanks for the Information. Go to this Addy http://www3.sears.com/ and Enter the Model Numbers in the Search Box at the Upper Left of this Page. Then Verify the Trimmer and Click Continue. Then Select the View Diagram or View Parts List to View the Breakdown/IPLs for this Trimmer. After Viewing the Breakdown of this Trimmer I see that this is the Model with the Choke Plate and Shutter. If Either of these are Worn or Loose, then the Problem you Described will Occur. Check the Choke Plate and Choke Shutter for Proper Tightness. No Movement when the Engine is Running. Check for Excessive Wear and Replace as Required. Sometimes the Bolt that Holds the Carburetor and Choke will Loosen and Cause this Problem. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
