Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD 110 tractor, Kohler 10 hp K241 engine, crank, piston

Question
I honed the block to 10 thousands over and put in 10 over piston and rings and new rod and valves.  The engine starts and runs fine except after running a few minutes it develops a knock. Don't knock until it warms up.  Any idea what this might be???   Thanks

Answer
Did you mic the crank.
You probably skimped on the rebuild. You needed to turn the crank 0.010 and install an oversized rod.
Another possibility is that you put assembly grease on the rod when installing, this will give an improper torque.
FYI if you go back after the crank replace the governor while your there it's cheap and the most common failure in a rebuild.
Good Luck
