Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda Mower Fuel Leak problem, honda mower, fuel leaks

Question
I bought a brand new Honda HR215 mower in 2004. After 15 years of great success with my former Honda, this one has been a nightmare. Since the 2nd or 3rd time I cut my grass that first season, I have experienced fuel leaks multiple times a year. It drips off the bottom of the carb bowl and onto the cutting deck. They tell me its bad fuel, etc. It has been in for service about 10 times in three years. Usually they said they could not find a leak. Finally they replaced the carb under warranty but it still leaks multiple times a year!!! I thought we were past it last year after it did not leak for the last month of the season, but this year after the 2nd cutting it is leaking again. I am assuming the needle valve is somehow sticking open, but don't know why or how to fix. After the first cutting this season I turned off the fuel valve and tilted the mower on its side to clean out the grass and fuel POURED out onto the ground.

I store it full, with Stabil run through the engine before storage.

Please help - Honda will not take it back and I can't have it in service 25-50% of every cutting season waiting on it to get looked at!!

Answer
 Hello John:

This is Becoming a Common Problem with ALL Small Engine Carburetors. The Needle or the Seat has a Defect. This Defect can be Seen Only Under Magnification. My First Questioner with this Problem was Shortly After I Started Answering Questions here. The Only Cure is a Good Cut Off Valve and Manually Cut Off the Gas when the Mower is Not being Used. Replacing the Needle and Seat May Cure the Problem for a Few Weeks or Months Even, But Most Times it  Seems to Start having the Same Problem within 3 to 5 weeks After Being Installed in the Carburetor.  This is Happening on ALL the OEM Engines, Not Just Honda. I have Written to and Spoken Most of the OEM's and have been told they are Not Aware of this Problem. I Really Don't know why they Aren't Aware of this, as it is a Common Problem. Go Figure. I Think it's a Money Thing, Myself. Anyway, I Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
