Toyota Repair: 1987 Corolla FX-16 GT-S 106,000 miles, jumper wire, diagnostic connector

Question
OK. overdrive light flashes. from a start ill floor it and hold down the throttle, the RPM's wont go over 2500 and the car is really slow then all of a sudden it seem to be floored again and it is like a rocket. And sometimes the RPM's will redline like the car is in nuetral and wont shift. any response will help. thanks again.

Answer
The O/D light flashes because there is a trouble code in the system, the first step is to find out what that is, open the diagnostic connector under the hood and locate the terminals TC and E1, place a small jumper wire between the two and turn the key on, the trouble codes can be read by counting the number of flashes of the O/D light, for example a code 21 would be two blinks followed by one then short puase for the next code if there are more, let me know what they are.
