Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears Mower wont start, question pool, metal surfaces

Question
Model#: 917.388.740
My 3 year old mower won't start.  No sign of a spark at the plug.  Took off the magneto and cleaned the metal surfaces.  Ohmed out the secondary plug wire to gnd at 4K ohms.  Reinstalled magneto with .020" clearance, but still no spark.  What is the correct clearance I should gap it to?  The safety switch appears to mechanically disengage, so I'm assuming it's not grounding out the magneto.  Any other ideas?

Thank you,
Chris

Answer
Hello Chris:

Remove the Coil/Ignition Module Shut Off Wire and Turn the Engine. If No Fire at the Plug, then the Coil/Ignition Module is Bad. If Fire at the Plug, then a Safety Switch is Bad. Hope this Helps.
