Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B & S 12 hp motor, hp motor, dip stick

Question
Changed the oil in my mower. Started and used about 5 minutes.
Then heard a sound like I ran over something solid and the engine shut down. There was nothing under or around the mower nothing caugt in the blades.... but enging would not start .....would not turn . I checked the dip stick oil was still
clear and the dip stick was extremely hot.....but there was
oil in the machine. What should I do next..

Send me the Model and Type Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. However, Remove the Blower Housing (metal engine cover). Make Sure the Magnets that are Attached to the Flywheel are Still in Place. If they are, then, Can you Turn the Engine "Reverse" to Operational Rotation? Will the Engine Turn a Full Rotation Going in Reverse Rotation? If the Engine Can Not be Turned At All or Turns 3/4 Turn and Stops in Each Direction, then the Connecting Rod has Broken.
