Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman push lawn mower, craftsman 917, spark plug

Question
hello i get no spark when i try to start this craftsman 917 372473 mower, since it got no battery im assuming is the coil. is there any way i can check if coil is ok? is there anywhere i can buy a replacement one if needed, is there anything else i can check for thank you

Answer
 Hello Lopez:

Change the Spark Plug. If Still No Fire, then Follow the Engine Brake/Stop Cable to the Engine. Remove the Plastic Cover over the Shut Off Switch and Engine Brake Assembly at the End of the Cable. Then Remove the Coil Shut Off Wire from the Stop Switch. Make Sure the Wire Isn't Touching Ground and Turn the Engine. If the Coil Fires, then the Stop Switch is Bad. If the Coil Doesn't Fire, then Remove the Blower Housing and Remove the Shut Off Wire from the Coil. Turn the Engine. If the Coil Doesn't Fire, then the Coil is Bad. If it Does Fire, then Replace the Shut Off Wire. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
