Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): no brakes, sectional view, lock nut

dear sir, i have a 38'' cut 14.5 hp 1999 jonh deere sabre lawn tractor that appears to have no brakes. is there any way to check these and or adjust them. thanks, randy.

 Hello Randy:

 There is a Brake Adjustment. It is Located on the Side of the Transaxle. Go to this Addy http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Name Sabre. Then Select your Model. Then Select the Sectional View. Then Select Steering and Brakes. Then Select Brake Gear. In the Diagram, the Lock Nut # 8 is the Adjuster for the Transaxle Brake. Adjust it 1/4 Turn at a Time and Once Close you can Adjust Accordingly. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.
