-----Question-----
I have a homelite trimmer model dt-20760. It won't start. It has the right fuel mix and it's getting to the engine. It has fire to the plug(rcj-6y with .025 gap).I've even taken the carb off and sprayed starting fluid in the intake and not even a hint of fire.Any suggestions?

 Hello Mike:

Remove the Muffler and Check the Exhaust Port and Muffler for Blockage. If these are Clear, then Add 1 Teaspoon of SAE 30 Engine Oil to the Cylinder through the Spark Plug hole. Replace the Plug and Try to Start the Engine Several Times. It May Take 4 or 5 Pulls before anything Happens. Does the Engine Try to Start? Can you Feel an Increase in the Engine Compression? Check the Compression if Either of the Above didnt Help. Compression should be No Lower than 70psi. From your Description it Sounds like Clogged Exhaust or Low Compression. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.

John          John : I took the muffler off and tried and it wouldn't start . The compression is good. Something I noticed when  checking the spark at the plug was that the fire seemed to be a little weak. Would this be a problem and also would I be getting any spark at the plugs if the kill switch was shorting out? If the fire is weak, what would cause that?      Thanks  Mike

Answer
 Hello Again Mike:

Remove the Wire from the Kill Switch and Check the Fire. If you have Fire at the Plug, then Remove the Flywheel and Check the Flywheel Key. If the Key is Damaged it will Through Off the Plugs Firing Timing and you will have this Problem. If the Flywheel Key and Kill Switch sre Good, then the Coil/Ignition Module is Causing the Weak Fire. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.
