Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman lawnmower, carburetor, model numbers

I have a 917-389690 mower. I was doing my lawn it stopped running, I opened the fuel float, started ok. did my lawn. then this week it does not start. open float starts once then quits. any tips on this.

 Hello Aneez:

 Remove and Disassemble the Carburetor. Then Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner? Install New Kit. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Carburetor at this Add http://www3.sears.com/ and Select the Lawn Equipment Box. Then Enter the Model Numbers 143.016712 (the engine model numbers) and Click Continue. Then Verify that the Numbers are for the Engine and Click Continue. From Here Select the View Diagram of the Carburetor. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.
