Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): honda gc 160 5 hp, rubber seal, gas cap

Question
i have the honda gc 160 walk-behind tiller.lately the machine is starting ok but after a while, isstarting to misfire(hunt)(i dont know the right word) and is stoping.i think something wrong with the karburetor.thank you from greece, nikos.

Answer
If it starts and runs fine only to die out 5-10-15min later I would inspect the gas cap first. It needs to vent to allow for the gas thats being drawn from the tank. if it doesnt the suction cuts off the gas flow. most caps have a rubber seal (vent)that allows for this. Take a flash light and shine it down into the tank if you suspect it has come off the underside of the cap. you can also run the engine and wait for it to start to die, then losen the cap a little to see if the engine kicks back to life.
