Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 5.5 honda engine, portable air compressor, honda engine

Hi would it be difficult to convert a 5.5 honda engine to electric start? The engine in question is used on a portable air compressor. Thanks

Generally it's not possible because the engine comes with no  alternator and no way to charge the battery used for starting.  Also many engines have no way to mount an electric starter and have no ring gear (the gear for the starter to engage to) on the flywheel.  The best way to go would be to purchase a new engine pre-equipped with electric start if you need it.
