Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh 5hp engine, king snow, float bowl

My Tecumseh 5hp engine on Snow King snow blower has lost power.   I have had to run it on first notch down from top speed, and it will cut out if any other spot.
Engine soon dies out at any load at all!
Suspect unstabilized gasoline some 5-6 wks old.
Engine starts with electric start - but no power.
Can you help, please?

You are correct in  suspecting the bad fuel in your carburetor.  I would drain the fuel tank and carburetor and at least clean the main jet on the carb.  The main jet is incorporated into the nut that holds the float bowl on.  You can clean it out with spray carb cleaner and compressed air.  Hope this was of help to you.
