Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman snow blower., rubber paddles, nuts and bolts

Question
I have an older Craftsman 4.5HP 21 inch single stage snowblower. When I am trying to blow deep snow it keeps clogging up the chute. It does better if I go slower, but is still a problem.I think new rubber paddles would help, but looking at the old ones it appears they have something like a rivet holding them on.How do I remove these?Looks to me like I would have to drill them out!!!!Thank you for any help.

Answer
 hello  jim,
you are correct  they need to be drilled or ground off with small grinder, and hammered out.
the replacement rubbers normally come with small  bolts then.
if they don,t you just get small nuts and bolts at hardware store.  i normally use lock nuts,  or peen ends over with hammer after they are installed so  nuts dont come off.   I will also  give you a clue that does help.  wax the chute,  and paddles or auger with a wax to help snow slide out better and not stick to auger.  Believe  me it does help..   i have even sprayed pledge furniture wax on many, and it does work better.  spray it on>>> let it dry on...  or even melt wax from a candle and pore onto  the surfaces. give these a try.   but yes the rivets must come out.
