Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): hard to pull. honda gc160 pressure cleaner, honda gc160, clickers

If I sort of play the pull cord, I can get the engine to turn. Other wise I'm having a rough time pulling the cord. At times the machine will jerk back the cord quite hard. Can you help me? Thanks, Louie.

release press on it by means of pulling wand trigger.
then  as far as recoil rope goes?  sounds like youer recoil should be oiled or sprayed with wd40, the clickers may not be catching.  and if it is floaded from trying to get started it may  back lash  the rope,  once running it should clear up,  but you need to get recoil to  catch  right.
