Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman blower, oil mixture, gas mixture

Question
Yes, I removed the muffler and checked it - looks okay. I also tried to start it with the muffler removed, and it would not start. Is there anything else I should check with the exhaust or any other system. Thanks.

-----Question-----
Craftsman blower model #358.797120. Can't get it to start no matter what I do. Only 18 mos. old. Getting spark and fuel. I have put in new plug and fresh gas mixture. Checked compression with old auto compression tester - reading of 65psi. Read somewhere to squirt oil in and re-test, which I did. Reading jumped to 105 psi. Do you think compression is the problem, if so, how much trouble and expense to fix? Is it something that requires special expertise or tools? Thanks.

 Hello Dennis:

Have you Checked the Muffler and Exhaust Port Yet? If Carbon Builds Up in the Spark Arrestor, Muffler and/or the Exhaust Port; this problem you Described will Occur. Only 18mo Old. I Wouldn't Suspect the Rings Until I Inspect the Exhaust. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks. Be Safe.

 Good Luck

Answer
 Hello Dennis:

From What you have Stated in your E-Mails, it Sounds like the Rings Have Collapsed. This is Rare on an Engine this New. It would be Cost Effective to Purchase a New Blower. The Cost of the Parts will be Half or a Little Over Half of what a New Blower will Cost. Are you Sure the Oil Mixture you are Using is Correct? This is Usually the cause for the Ring Problem this Early in 2-cycle Small Engines. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Leet me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
