Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): briggs oil change, first hope, crankcase

Question
Hi John, I've been told, (AND READ) as long as you tip a mower on its side with carb pointed up,your safe to remove the blade, or perform an oil change. My mowers have drain plug under blade deck. When I tried it oil poured into the carb, I had just rebuilt. These are 3.5 briggs  push mowers. As you stand behind them, the carbs are on the right side. I tip them onto the left side, carb up in the air. Where am I going Wrong? Thanks John for the insight.

Answer
 Hello Darryl:

ALWAYS Tilt the Engine so the Spark Plug is Up. Even Tilting the Engine with the Carburetor Up Doesn't Mean the Oil Isn't Going to Get Into the Crankcase Vent/Breather. Once the Oil is in the Crankcase Vent/Breather , it is Sucked into the Carburetor. I Never Tilt an Engine Sideways Unless it is Necessary and then I Drain the Oil First. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
