Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 32cc blower/vac problems, craftsman model, blower vac

-----Question-----
I have a Craftsman 32cc blower/vac with a WT 141A carburetor on it. I can only get it to run with the throttle wide open.  I have a very small amount of mixture adjustment.  1/4 turn either rich or lean and the engine dies. I got it from a guy who said he put a kit in the carb and never got it running after that.

 Hello Craig:

From your Description it Sounds like the Carburetor needs to be Cleaned and Rebuilt. However, Remove the Muffler and Check the Exhaust Port for Blockage. Check the Muffler and Spark Arrestor Screen(inside the muffler) for Blockage Also. What is the Make and Model of the Engine on this Blower. With the Make and Model of the Engine I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL of the Carburetor and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply about my blower.  I'm not sure how to identify the make and model of the engine, but the Craftsman model number is 358.797991. I have cleaned the carburetor in carb cleaner, blown out the orifices, and installed a kit.  The muffler and spark arrestor are not blocked.  The blower starts a little more easily, but still doesn't reach the rated rpm.  If I block the airflow coming out of the blower, the engine will rev up a bit more. I'm not sure the metering lever in the carburetor is adjusted correctly, and am not sure how to tell.

Regards,
Craig

Answer
 Hello Graig:

If the Carburetor wasn't Soaked Overnight in Carburetor Cleaning Solution(I use Gunk), then it May Not be Clean. The Varnish Inside the Carburetor Passages Require at Least 12 Hours of Soaking to Loosen and Remove it. Spray Cleaners Don't Work. The Pump Needle is Adjusted so it Just Touches the Diaphragm. Any Higher and the Engine Will Flood and Lower the Engine will Starve at High RPM's. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Blower and Carburetor at this Addy http://www3.sears.com/ and Select the Lawn Equipment Box. Then Enter the Model Numbers and Click Continue. Verify the Equipment and Click Continue. From the Next Page you can View a Parts List or a Diagram. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
