Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Broken impeller, giant vac leaf blower, pan hope

Question
One of the blades on my 8hp Giant VAC leaf blower has cracked off. Can I remove the impeller and weld the blade back on to the impeller?

Answer
 Hello Stan:

Yes you Can. HOWEVER !!! You will need a Balancer to Rebalance the Impeller. If the Person Doing the Welding is Certified and has the Knowledge, this Impeller can Be Welded and Balanced. Depending on the Cost of the Impeller and the Cost of Doing the Welding. Most Times Purchasing a New Impeller is the Best Choice. I am a Welder and I Do/Did Repair the Companies Blower/Vac Impellers. We have an Adapter that Attaches to the Wheel Ballancer and we can Balance the Impeller and Other Parts with this Adapter. I am Unable to this for the Residential Customers as the Impeller is Usually Cheaper than the Repair Work Involved. If Not Welded and Balanced Properly; the Blade can Shear and Fly Out of the Blower. It can Also Explode through the Housing in Pieces. The Imbalance will Also Wear the Oil Ring and Housing(Oil Pan). Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
