Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Spacer Washers on the Transaxle Foote, intermediate shaft, input shaft

Question
I have a Sears riding mower model number 917.254520 w/foote transaxle model number 4360-6. The clutch collar froze on the intermediate shaft and I had to separate the housing to repair when water got in and mixed with the grease. The washers in the shifter assembly were rusted really bad and need replacing. In the manual that I have for this mower they list seven different sizes ranging from .006 to .040. How do I choose the correct size washer? Also on the input shaft their are 10 different sizes from .010 to .082 that can be used, again how do I chose the correct size to install?

Answer
 Hello Wiley:

The Washers you are Speaking of are Really Shims. Mic the Thickness of the Old Washers/Shims. This is the Easiest Way to get the Correct Shim/Washer. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
