Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 2 cycle engine runs then stops, fuel tanks, fuel mix

Question
Thanks for your reply, I emptied both machines' fuel tanks and mixed new fuel and loaded that, that solved the problem once all the old fuel left in the systems had burned off.

-----Question-----
Hi John,

I just bought a new leaf blower, thinking my old one was dying and wasnt worth repairing.
Sadly, the new one exhibits the same symptom....
once I get it started (which was a little hard) it runs ok for a few minutes and then starts to slow down and lose power, then stop. Then I can't get it going for 10 or fifteen minutes.
Could this be from stale fuel? Or maybe the wrong oil/gas mix?  I'm not certain that the fuel was mixed correctly, and I know the gas is several months old.
If this is the problem, how should I proceed? Just drain the old fuel and replace with a nice fresh batch?

Thanks for any help...

 Hello Tom:

Is the Gas Tank Cap Venting the Tank? If Not, after 10 to 15 Minutes a Vacuum will Occur in the Tank and the Carburetor Cant Pull Fuel. Check the Exhaust for Blockage. Send me the Make and All the Model Numbers Off of the Blower, Please. With these, I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL of the Blower and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John

Answer
 Hello Tom:

Great!!! Thanks for the E-Mail Update. I will List this with the Probable Causes for this Symptom. This is a First for me. Of Course the Gas is Produced Differently and Doesn't last as Long. The Fuel Mix you had Must have been Very Old. Thanks Again. May all your Mechanical Problems be SMALL ONES and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Till Next Time.

 Best Wishes and Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
