Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): kohler161t on troybult tiller, valve seals, air mixture

Question
The engine runs but not at high rpm's. When I throttle up it pulses. Governor control? What are the carburator screw adjustments? Can you get a rebuild kit for this motor? Rings, bearings, valve seals etc.?

Answer
 Hello Keith:

The Pulsing is Usually caused by the Carburetor. the Setting for the Air Mixture Screws is: Turn Both IN Until Seated **DO NOT JAM SNUG ONLY** Then Reverse Direction on Both Screws 1 1/2 Turns. Set Throttle to High and Start Engine. Using you Hand Rev Engine (override the governor arm) and Turn High Mixture Screw IN/OUT Until the Engine Revs Smoothly. Then Set the Low Mixture Screw so there is No Hesitation when Throttling from Idle to Full Throttle. Then Set the Idle if Required. If this Doesn't Correct the Problem, then Clean and Rebuild the Carburetor. Varnish is Restricting the Gas Flow through the High Mixture Jet. Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Gunk Carburetor Cleaner and then Blow out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Kit. You can Go to this Addy http://www.kohlerengines.com/service/manuals/index.jsp and Locate a Breakdown/IPL that will Show you All the Parts Available. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
