Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Carburetor for Vanguard 21 hp Engine, crankcase oil, husqvarna lawn tractor

Question
My Husqvarna lawn tractor will not start up.  I got it started before by spraying intake cleaner into it.  After several applications, it continued to run on it's own but not today.  Everything indicates I need to thoroughly clean the carb but I cannot get the part at the bottom with the two wires coming to it off so I can remove the carburetor.  Do the wires suppose to pull out?  I tried holder the plastic end with the wires while I unscrewed the metal housing part but it only allows a few turns before it locks and starts moving with the housing.  How do I disconnect this piece so I can get the carburetor off?  Is it an electric shut-off or something else?

Answer
 Hello Waverly:

From your Description it Sounds like the Fuel Shutoff Solenoid May be Why the Carburetor is Giving Problems. The Solenoid should Turn Out Like a Bolt. If the Solenoid Housing is Turning, then I Suggest you Replace it. You can Check the Solenoid by Removing the Solenoid and Replacing it with a 3/4" Bolt with the Same Diameter and Threads. If the Engine Runs Properly, then the Solenoid is Bad. If Not, then the Carburetor needs to be Disassembled and Soaked Overnight in Gunk Carburetor Cleaner and then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Kit. The Solenoid is a Shutoff for when the Engine is Not in Use. It is Supposed to Stop the Gas Flow into the Carburetor so if the Float Needle Leaks Gas; the Gas Doesn't Flood the Cylinder and Enter the Crankcase Oil. I have been Replacing the Solenoid with a Short Bolt and then Installing a Manual Shutoff in the Gas Line and then Turning the Gas Flow Off to the Carburetor when I Finish using the Engine. These Solenoids have been Causing Plenty of Problems. Send me the Model Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
