Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): fuel supply, soleniod, float bowl

Question
I have a white tractor with a 16 hp vangard model 303777 briggs. This thing will not start and stay running. it seems to be fuel supply. all interal poarts of carb have been cleaned and new fuel pump installed. I am at a loss. The only thing that I question is the fuel solenoid on the bottom of the float bowl. The bottom of the float bowl on the inside was gunked up with stale fuel and the solenoid does not seem to be working. now the wire is broke off. Would this starve the engine from fuel? It runs if I pump fuel in the throat of the carb.

Answer
 Hello Fred:

Remove the Soleniod from the Carburator Bowl and Purchase a Bolt the Same Diameter and Threads and about 1/2" to 3/4" Long. Install this Bolt in Place of the Soleniod. If the Engine Runs, then the Soleniod is Bad. The Bolt can be Used for a Short Term Until you Replace the Soleniod. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
