Hi,I have a ariens 938016-522 snow thrower it runs good but dies when I push it into the snow its rpms do not raise if I push on the govenor lever it does rev up what causes the govoner to move inside the engine

 Hello John:

From your Description it Sounds like the Carburator Air Mixture May be Too Lean. Open the High RPM Air Mixture Screw 1/4 Turn and See if this Helps. If Not, Then the Carburator May need Cleaning and Rebuilding. Reving an Engine with No Load Requires Less Gas through the Jet than an Engine Reving with a Load. Send me the Make, Model, Type and Code Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL and Better Assist you. There are Different Types of Governors. The Model and Type Numbers can Tell me this Also. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require More Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Answer
 Hello John:

Locate the Linkage from the Governor Control Arm to the Carburator. Push or Pull the Governor Control Arm so as to Open the Carburator(Increase Engine Speed) with you Hand. When you Increase Engine Speed you can Feel the Governor Push Against your Fingers trying to Slow the Engine RPM's Back Down. The Spring from the Throttle Control to the Dovernor Control Arm Regulates how Fast the Engine Runs at Full Throttle. Hope this Helps. I amhere if you Require more Assistamce. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
