Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Compression release on B+S 17.5 Intek Sears LT1000, compression release, lt1000

Question
Is there an internal compression release? This is an issue of too much compression, OR, too little cranking power. Do you know where I can find a parts diagram of this engine?

Question -
I cannot spin over the motor on this tractor 99% of the time. The compression is too great for the starter motor and battery, both brand new!!! New selenoid, starter switch, etc. Is there a internal mechanical compression release on an Intek 17.5 that may have failed? I have searched for a diagram but can't find one. I build motorcycles all the time but always have the information available. Not the case with this motor. Your help will be appreciated.

 Hello Mike:

Check the Valve Lash. Intake .005 -.007in and Exhaust .008 - .010in. Is it Possible the Flywheel Key has been Damaged? Remove the Belts from the Engine Pulley. There May be a Bad Pulley causing Drag on the Engine. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
