Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): possible ground in safety switch wires?, safety switches, preteen children

Question
MTD Yard Machine b&s 14hp/42" (93-94?) 11.9v to solenoid. Solenoid ignition wire runs from key switch, thru all 28 safety switches(o.k...3 switches), then to the solenoid. I'm getting a split-second burst of voltage to the solenoid when I turn the key to run, holding the key does no more. So of course, I'm only getting the same burst thru the solenoid to the starter.

Grounded somewhere? or wiring snamu? Should wire run thru the safety switches? I have preteen children and don't want to disconnect any safetys.

Thank you in advance and God bless,
Wes

Answer
 Hello Wes:

Jumper Each Safety Switch Starting with the Seat Safety and then the Clutch, Blade and Neutral Safety Switches. If the Safety Switches are All Good, If you Locate a Bad Switch, you can Use the Mower Until you can Replace the Bad Switch. Then Check the Ignition Switch. A Bad Ignition Switch will Do as you Described. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
