Question -
Thanks John for the info.
Is there a kit to convert to Propane that you recommend ?  Is  there a procedure for tuning the engine when running on propane?... Ive seen several adjustment screws  on my propane model , but have not tried to adjust any yet.

My magneto does not have a wire going to a shutoff ( shutoff is done with metal tab pressed to the sparkplug).  There are two wires on the magneto of the propane unit that both appear to need to be connected to the magneto-to-engine block bolt (ie. grounded).

best regards,
paul

Question -
Hi John,

Thanks for your help on my other generator.

---------------
I have a second similar generator (propane fuel, elect start, but very similar carburetor)
Homelite brand generator
briggs and stratton engine
Model- 190412
Type- 1709-01
code-79011010
-------------------------

The aluminum casting  support for the magneto broke off (had previously been JB welded back on) and the screw into the second support broke too. I used a thin piece of cardboard (1/16 inch about) to set the gap of the magneto and applied some new JB weld.  I also drilled out the broken bolt (1/8 dia)  and have run a new screw in there that seems to hold well in the 3/8" deep hole. I will add red-loktite before all is completed.
-question:  in comparison to my other B&S engine for the other generator,  this magneto does not have a separate black wire that goes back to the engine... it does have 2 wires that get grounded with the screw that broke. Is this just normal differences in the models?  they look *very* similar otherwise.   Im not familiar with magnetos...are there points involved with this?...it doesnt look like it needs them.

-the carburetor looks just like the other gas carb, but is fitted with a connection to the propane valve through the mixture screw hole on the top of the carb.  If this jbweld patch does not hold , should I be able to scavenge the parts from this generator and convert the other one to propane/

thanks,
paul

Answer -
 Hello Paul:

The Magneto/Coil is Most likely One that has the Internal Ignition Module. One Wire is Grounded to the Coil Support Post and the Other goes to the Engine Shutoff. If you go to the Addy I Provided Earlier you can see the Difference in the Coils. I have Taken 2 Carburator and Converted them Over to Propane/LP and you should have No Problem doing the Same. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
