Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Homelite XL2 Auto Chainsaw, adjustment screws, reed valve

Question
Hello, I have an older XL2 saw. It starts up easily with 2-3 pulls, then it will rev up for 10-15 seconds  then die like it's not getting fuel. It won't restart and after 4-5 pulls it is flooded, the plug is wet and fuel is dripping out of the muffler. The fuel, spark, compression, fuel + air filters are all good. It is puzzling to me what could be wrong. I did notice something odd (at least to me) there are only 2 adjustment screws on the carb. One is the idle speed. Shouldn't there be one for the low and one for the high speed ? I can't find any model/type/code/serial # on the saw, except on the starter housing- XL2 automatic. Could the problem be in the reed valve ? or?

Answer
 Hello Scott:

Remove the Muffler and Check the Exhaust Port for Blockage. Check the Muffler and Spark Arrestor Screen for Blockage. The Spark Arrestor Screen is in the Muffler. If these are Clear, then Check the Carburator. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
