Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh cross-reference info, shaft length, bolt pattern

I have an old Ariens Emperor riding mower (1969 or 1970) with a Tecumseh V70 engine.  The connecting rod has broken, as there is a crack in the case of the engine, so I don't think it is repairable.  So in searching for a replacement engine, can you point me to any listing of engines (5-8 hp) that would use the same bolt pattern for mounting and have the same crankshaft length, diameter and thread?  I've looked everywhere, and can't seem to find a look-up table that shows me this info.  Are all tecumesh and Eager1 bolt patterns the same?  Any other things beyond maounting and crankshaft geometry I should be concerned with?
