Question
My son was involved in a car accident. It was the other drivers fault. Her insurance company accepted liability. The insurance company allowed the owner of the reapir shop to pick up the check , before the repairs were completed. The check was made out to my son and the repair shop. The repair shop forged my sons name and cashed the check. Only 1/3 of the repairs were professionally done to the car. I contacted the insurance company to inform them of this , but they said there was nothing they could do that this is now a civil issue. The repair shop closed up 2 days later. I don't understand why the insurance company allowed the repair shop to pick up the check without the completion of the repairs. Is this standard practice. Is there anything that I can do?

Answer
Hi Margurite,

If you selected the shop, the insurance company is not responsible for the quality of repairsYou would need to file suit against the shop and its owners.

If the insurance company sent you to that shop then the insurance company is responsible for the quality of the repairs. If they refuse to do anything then you need to speak to an attorney.

I hope this helps
