Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn Mower Engine Wont Start, briggs and stanton, bench area

Question
You answered a question from Scott about his engine not getting enough gas. You mention to disassemble the carberator. I also have the Briggs and Stanton engine. I have looked online to see if i can find diagrams or info to help me take it apart. I don't know much about engines but i do know that i don't want to spend a mechanic the same i paid for the lawnmower to have it fixed.

Could you or someone help me with info on how to take apart the carberator and clean it.

Thanks
-Jeff

Answer
Hi Jeff,

I don't know of any diagrams other than a service manual which would be costly.  If you do the work on a large clean bench area and keep the parts in order or make notes, you should be able to re-assemble the carb easily.  If you get stuck, you will not be much worse off if you have to have it finished by someone, after.

Let me know how you make out.

Good luck.
Michael
