Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): weed eater, weedwacker, recoil

Question
I have a craftsman gasoline weedwacker that has been working great until recently.  It is model no.358.791590.  I went to use it the other day and when I would pull to start it, the cord wouldn't retract.  So, I stopped the motor and only then would it retract.  So, I started it up again and the same thing happened.  I shut it off and it would retract.  I repeated this two more times and the last time the cord wouldn't retract.  So, now I'm stuck with a weed eater with a pull cord hanging out and no way to start it.  I have no idea how to repair it.  Could you offer me some help?  thanks.

Answer
Hi, Sorry for the Delay! It sound like your recoil is bad! This is not a major problem, I think on this model there is four screws holding the cover on! Just find a local Mower repair shop or a sears part store and give them your model and till them you need a new recoil! It is not very exspensive. Just watch how you take it out & put it back in the same way! When you put the new recoil in make sure that you wind your pull cord up on the spool so it will retract after you put it back togather!
Hope this helps!
Let me know how it go's
