Question -
I have a toro proline 620Z with a 20hp pressure lubricated onan engine. i tried to start last week and got nothing not even a click when i turned the key. i finnaly tracked it to the fuse block replaced it charged the battery it cranked right up. mowed 2 arces put back on trailer turned the key and starter just clicked. i know it sat out in the weather for at least 2 years before i bought it from my boss it only has 250 hrs on it. i,ve replaced the ignition coil twice, the ingnition switch 3 or 4 times and been through 4 batterys. i think i need to replace and clean all the female ends of all the wiring and switches before purchasing any regulators or anything expensive its already costing enough in down time. any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated cause the motor its self is good the electrical is the bad part. HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME. just started my own buss. and on a tight budget.

 Hello Jason:

Check the Voltage at the Regulator. It should be 13.5VDC to 14.8VDC. If Not, Then Check the Voltage from the Stator/Alternator/Generator. This Voltage should be 15.8VDC to 18.0VDC. If Both of these Voltages are Good, then the Problem is in the Harness. If Not, Then Replace the One with the Bad Voltage. The Stator/Alternator/Generator May be Bad and the Regulator Good or Both the Regulator and the Stator/Alternator/Generator can be Bad. Sometimes the Stator/Alternator/Generator can Burn Out the Regulator if the Voltage Goes Too High Just before it Burns Out. Make Sure the Harness Doesnt have Bad Wires. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
