Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): drop down lever to engage blade, cable problem, time dave

i have a older toro self propelled.i've kept it running well.this week i went to cut the grass and the lever to engage the blade would not engage to cut.from what i can see the belts are o.k.it has something to do with the cable.

Hi,
Yes it sounds like a cable problem! With the engine off try to ingauge the mower & watch the cable at the other end to see if it moves at all. when it stops try to push the arm that it connects to see if it goes further! If so then your cable is probably your cable is broken in side! Let me know what you find!!
