Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snapper Hydro Drive lubrication spec, advance auto parts, snapper dealer

Question
John, In your answer to my initial question you asked for the "OEM and model numbers" of the transaxle.  It's a Tuf Torq, probably a model K55 (found that in tractor parts manual), and the transaxle serial number is 047227 (year?).  Need to know the lubricant type (Snapper part number would be nice),  the lubricant capacity of the transaxle, the fill level (e.g., up to bottom thread of fill plug hole), and, finally, instructions for draining out old fluid (fill plug is obvious but drain plug/bolt is not).  Thanks again.

Question -
Hi,  I just purchased a '99 LT180H48DBV2 Snapper rider with the "Tuf-Torq" model K55 Hydro Drive.  I can't find, either in the online owner's and parts manuals (no service manual online)or from the Snapper dealer, the specification for the Hydro Drive oil.  Any ideas?

 Hello Robert:

For the Hydro Transaxles I use Mag 1 from Advance Auto Parts. I have never seen it in Less than 5 Gallon Amounts. Your Local Farm Equipment and Parts Supplier can Provide you with a Good Hydraulic Oil Also. If you Send me the OEM and Model Numbers Off of the Transaxle, Please. With these Numbers I can Locate a Breakdown and the Actual Hydraulic Oil Specifications you are Looking for. Some Hydro Transaxles Use Shell Darina "O" Fluid and Some Use Shell Alvaina EP-2 Fluid. There are 3 or 4 Other Types of Fluid in Use Also. I can Also Locate a Service Manual for the Hydro Also. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John

Answer
 Hello Robert:

I have Viewed the Hydro in Question and have Talked with the Support People at Snapper. This Hydro is not Designed to be Drained of Fluid. You can Add Fluid to this Hydro if a Seal Starts Leaking but you are Not Supposed to Drain and Refill. They Suggest you take this Hydro to a Local Service Center for this Type of Servicing. The Fluid Level is to the Bottom of the Threads of the Fill Plug. The Mag 1 Hydraulic Oil from Advance is Compatable with the Oil they Use for this Hydro. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Requuire more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
