Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Replacing Murray Drive Belt, hp briggs, murray drive

Question
Hey John,

I have a 2004 Murray 42 inch mower with a 18 HP briggs.  It is a 6 speed.  I am giving you this because I don't have the model # in front of me.  I just need to know the easiest way to replace the drive belt.  I did it once before and I don't remember it being this difficult.  I just put one of those tension pulleys on it but cannot seem to figure out the best way to get the belt on.  The belt guards are all over the drive pulleys.  Please help if you can.  Thanks alot.  Corey Smith

Answer
 Hello Corey:

I have Never Looked for Shortcuts when Replacing Belts on Mowers. A Small Nick in the Belt and the Life of the Belt is Shortened. Always Remove the Belt Guards Enough to Safely Install the New Belt. You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Addy http://murray.com/ and Click on the Illustrated Parts List under the Service and Support Heading. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
