Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 10 hp motor fried?, hp motor, dead battery

Question
Hello, I have a 10 hp tecumseh engine Murray riding mower. The other day it wouldn't start. The engine wouldn't even rotate. I thought I had a dead battery, so I hooked up a battery charger to the unit and tried to turn over again. Unfortunately, I fried all the wires to the battery and solenoid. Do you know what my original problem could have been? and is there any hope that I can fix the problem now that I've fried some wires?

Answer
I would remove the spark plug and see if you can rotate the engine by hand.

If you can, then the engine is not seized.  If not, then the engine may be bad or there may be a part binding preventing the engine from rotating.

When was the last time it ran?
Let me know.
