Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): pull cord replacement on lawn mower, plastic pulley, briggs stratton

Question
I have a Briggs & Stratton lawn mower.  The pull cord broke and my son and friend replaced it with a piece of clothes line.  Needless to say that lasted 2 pulls.  I know I am capable of replaceing it I just need instructions.  I watched them in the process but not all parts.  I have tools to get the top of the mower off and understand there is a spring.  That is where I need help to get the new cord in place.  Thanks for your time.  Peace, Andi'

Answer
 Hello Andi:

No Worries: After you have Removed the Blower Housing. Turn the Housing so the Plastic Pulley is Facing Up. Remove any of the Old Line from the Pulley. Make sure there is a Knot in 1 End of your New Starter Rope. Turn the Pulley Towards the Open Hole in the Starter Housing until the Pulley will Not Turn anymore. Not Jammed, Just Snug tight. Now Reverse the Pulley 2 Turns and Line up the Hole in the Plastic Pulley with the Hole in the Housing. Thread the Rope through the Pulley and Out through the Hole in the Housing. Once the Rope is Through the Hole in the Housing, Pull the Rope Until the Knot is Tight against the Pulley. Tie a Slip Knot in the Rope to Hold the Pulley and Rope in Place while the Handle is Attached to the Rope. Remove the Slip Knot and the Rope should Retract into the Housing. Hope this Helps. I am Here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck
