Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Techumseh 8 hp, carburator, gasket

Question
I am stumped. I have a 8 hp techumseh snowblower engine. The engine sat for a year with old gas. I took the carb completely apart. I even removed the pressed in disc to clean the passages inside.I ran a wire through the passages and blew air through them all. I can feel air coming through all the passages. I am 99.9% sure there is no blockage. The problem is that it won't idle or run just off idle. Above 1/2 throttle it seems to run good. The carb is vented for atomosphere pressure. It just doesn't make any sense why the fuel isn't flowing. If I prime it while it's running it will stay running at idle until it burns the fuel from the primer. Do you have any ideas?

Answer
 Hello Jim:

Have you Checked the Mounting Gasket/O-ring? It sounds like the Engine isnt Drawing enough Vaccum to Pull the Gas through the Carburator when at Low Speeds. This is Usually and Indication of a Bad Gasket/O-ring. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
