Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): slow craftsman lawnmower, craftsman mowers, walk behind mower

Question
Hi Eric
I have a 6.75 hp Craftsman walk-behind mower. It has a 21" rear drive. I bought it new about 2 years ago. The thing moves slow as heck. Is there any way to speed it up? I gave away a 5 hp craftsman mower because It was too slow and then bought this one. I would really appreciate any advice you might have about this.
Thanks
Ron

Answer
Most Craftsman mowers are single speed only...no way to adjust the speed.

If the drive train is pulling/pushing the mower then that's it...your only speed is go or no go.

Snapper, Toro, Ariens, Honda, John Deere and other mowers sold from mower dealers offer multi-speed walk behind mowers.

I agree with you, most Craftsmans are too slow.  Spend the extra money at a mower dealer and get a mower that suits your needs and desires.

Let me know if this helps.
Eric
