Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Can it be repaired?, dipstick tube, weight oil

Question
My husband recently left for his 2nd tour in Iraq. I am a mother of 4....one who is special needs. I work full-time and rarely have time to do my lawn. My 12-year-old tried to be helpful one day by trying to mow the lawn. She couldn't start it and thought it needed gas. Problem is she accidently put gas in where the oil goes. My husband just bought this mower before he left. I was wondering if this can be repaired?

Answer
I would recommend changing the oil and refilling with 16 oz, 1/2 quart of SAE-30 weight oil.

The mower should be fine if the engine was not ran too long with the gas in the oil.

REMOVE the spark plug before working on the mower!  The drain plug is located on the bottom of the engine.  Usually a 3/8 inch ratchet and short extension are required to remove the drain plug.

You can also remove the engines dipstick and have someone help you tilt the mower and pour the oil/gas out of the dipstick tube.

Once you drain the oil and refill it, leave the spark plug out and pull the string a  dozen or so times to circulate the new oil.

Re-install the spark plug and see if it runs.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
