 Hello Larry:

Remove the Blower Housing(metal engine cover). Then Disconnect the Shutoff Wire from the Coil. If the Plug Fires, then The Coil/Ignition Module/Igniter is Bad. Send me the Model Numbers Off of the Mower and the Make, Model, Type and Code Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these Numbers I can View a Breakdown of the Mower and the Engine and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.
