 Hello Al:

Remove Any Belts from the Crankshaft Pulley. If the Belt Removal Makes a Difference, then Check the Accessories that the Belts Drive for Binding. If this Doesnt Help, then Check the Flywheel Key for Damage. Is the Engine Overfilled with Oil? Is the New Starter the OEM Repalcement or After Market? Some After Market Starters have to be Shimmed to Fit the Ring Gear on the Flywheel. If the Starter is Too Deep in the Ring Gear it will Drag Also. Send me the Model, Type and Code Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these Numbers I can View A Breakdown of the Engine and Starter and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. Let me know whatHappens, Please. Thanks.

 Hello Al:

Good. Ok, Have we Checked the Flywheel Key Yet? Renove the Blower Housing(metal engine cover). Remove the Flywheel Nut/Bell/Clutch(depends on the Model Numbers). Use a Steering Wheel Puller and Pull on the Flywheeel. Take a Hammer and Hit the Puller. Repeat this Process Until the Flywheel Pops Up. The Flywheel Key Lines the Flywheel with the Crankshaft. It cant be Bent or Cut in Any Manner. This Times the Firing of the Plug to the Location of the Piston During the Compression Cycle. If it is Damaged the Plug will Fire too Early and Cause the Problem you are Having. I have seen a Few that have Done this Because the Flywheel wasnt Tightened Properly from the Factory. This is Rare but it Does Occur. Are you Sure the Battery and the Connections to the Starter are Good? Have you Jumpered from the Battery to the Starter Bypassing the All the Connections. Use a Jumper Cable Set and Jumper from your Car Battery to the Starter. DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR RUNNING. You are wanting to use the Battery not the Cars Alternator. If this doesnt Help, then we can Continue with the Direction we are Going. If the Starter Turns the Engine Properly, then we Dont want to Remove the Flywheel. The Problem is in the Electrical System. Check the Starting this way before you Remove the Flywheel, Please. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
